Date day and a whole lot of updates

I’m back to blogging again (for a while, at least).

A while back, the S.O won tickets to watch Kick Ass and it was good! So, catch it if you can but I recommend you don’t bring your kids even though its a “superhero type” movie. I know there were a few people who were shocked at the amount of swearing coming out of an 11 year old’s mouth (not to mention she wields knives and other weapons), but I thought that was what made the movie different from all the rest. So yea, *two thumbs up*

4 days ago, the S.O and I discovered something really wrong with our dog, Ginger, the labrador. She’s been having this on going ear infection which kinda makes her stink like crazy. The S.O tried to clean out her ear but discovered something gross. She not only had an ear infection, but also worms (or so we thought then) in them!!! We panicked and wanted to take her to the vet but were unsure if they were still open (it was about 6pm when we found out).

So the S.O had to take her to the vet the day after while I was in college. All’s well now though. The vet had to anesthetize her to remove the fly larvae. When I got home, Ginger was still a little bit disoriented and she had to wear “the cone” which prevents her from scratching the wound. She would come greet me with her usual gusto, but because of the cone, it made it a little hard for her to judge the distance therefore instead of stopping short, she would barge right into me. >.< She’s better now. She’s able to climb and descend the stairs, but we’re not sure if she’s gotten the hang of eating with the cone. :S

Anyway, today the S.O and I went to KLCC for a “date”. Hahaha. We went over to the Kinokuniya bookstore to check if they had this book I wanted. Sadly, they didn’t. So we headed over to the food court for lunch, wanting to eat Korean Fried Rice. But the stall is no longer there! Bummer. In the end, we had lunch at Chinoz @ the Park.

The S.O and I enjoyed lunch very much. He had the Chinoz Burger while I had the Chicken, Leek and Mushroom pie. For RM 29, I say it’s pretty reasonable and the food was great. 😀 I’m still feeling sleepy from such a heavy meal. But our trip to Kinokuniya wasn’t wasted. He got a book he’s been wanting to get and I got a fashion magazine. But we still wanted to try Borders at the Curve to see if they had the book I wanted in stock. Luck was on my side as they did have a copy. 😀 I’m gonna be using that book to work on something for my graduation collection soon. 😀

Sun Dei!

Okay, lame title, I know.

My morning was spent lying around in bed, trying to finish the latest Nicholas Sparks’ book titled The Last Song. I think this is probably one of my favourite book, besides A walk to Remember. And it’s now going to be turned into a movie starring Miley Cyrus. Hope the movie will be as good as the book. 🙂

Then later on, the S.O and I headed over to 1 Utama for lunch at Dave’s Deli. I’ve been craving for lasagna for the longest time. We wanted to catch a movie, but tickets were selling fast and the next show was at 5 something. We didn’t want to wait that long. :S So we headed home and decided to watch The Time Traveler’s Wife.

So yes, I’ve finally seen it. Honestly, I think they did a great job with the movie even though there were some missing parts here and there. The movie made it less complicated ( the whole time travelling thing can get a little confusing sometimes) and although some scenes were changed a little, I don’t think it really mattered because it was still understood.

The book was sad, the movie was sad and now I’m gonna watch another sad movie called Hachiko. It’s the story of an extremely loyal dog who would wait for its master to come home, even after his masters’ death. Today is a day to cuddle with your loved ones and shed a few tears over a sad movie. Even the sky is crying at the moment, heavily I might add. :S

Weekend Madness

Last weekend was an incredibly busy one.

Headed down to Malacca for a day trip on Saturday. Didn’t do much but visited Mahkota Parade and the Pahlawan square place. It was like a mini Sg. Wang there. :S The S.O wasn’t too happy that they “destroyed” a historical landmark by elevating it and building a shopping/food place under it. I don’t quite remember that particular spot cos the last time I went to Malacca was almost 13 years back. o.O

Walked around Jonker street in the afternoon sun. Nothing much to buy. Wanted to have chicken rice balls, but couldn’t cos we were full from lunch and the shop was closed by the time we were prepared to “tapau” and leave. 🙁 But we did have yummeh ice kacang and cendol. Perhaps they should mix the mango bits with the cendol rather than having it on the ice kacang? XD

Sunday was spent attending Lilian Too’s Feng Shui Extravaganza at KLCC (the convention center). Incidentally, the Star Education Fair was also happening. Tons of people during lunch but we managed to snag a spot at Kenny Rogers before it got packed. Got hit by broken glass, luckily I was wearing stockings, so no injuries.

Today is the first day of the new semester. *monotonous* weeeeeee~

Got a nice pressie from Jakarta. 😀 Love the new necklace. Am not prepared for the new semester. I feel like I’m gasping for air. Maybe as time progresses, I’ll get into the groove of things again. Busy Busy! We finally got our own room albeit small. Got chased out of the bigger fashion room to make way for the new intake.

I iz in Penang Part 2

Day 2 of our trip consists of more food hunting. Our goal – to find the famous asam laksa & cendol place.

Had breakfast at the hotel before heading over to the “bridal suite” for the morning ceremony. All I can say is, the hotel food was kinda bad. Bad, but still edible. =.=”Anyway, the bride’s “chee muis” (girlfriends) had to prepare some games/obstacles for the groom and his “heng tais” (buddies/brothers) before they can actually fetch the bride.

1st obstacle, Ben (the groom) had to eat some dried fish snacks which were tied up to form a meter long string. 2nd obstacle was to get 2 people out of the “band of brothers” to eat a banana off another two guys. And the bananas were tied to the waist. XD I’ll let you guys imagine it since I couldn’t take any pictures. The 3rd game they had prepared was to fish out letters that spelt “Ben luvs Gloria”. It was written on tiny shells and placed in a bucket filled with water.

After another game of professing his love, the groom’s side were all eager in getting the door open and were all shouting. I wonder if we scared the neighbors. XD Didn’t really see what happened after they managed to push their way into the room cos it was way too crowded. But I know that the groom had to present tea to the bride’s family members.

After all that, we followed the bridal party back to the groom’s side in Kulim, Kedah. I think we had a convoy of almost 10 cars. 😀 Funnily enough, they had to arrive after 11am but I’ve always thought that they had to arrive at 11am sharp. *shrug* Don’t really know what’s all that about. Same thing, bride and groom had to serve tea to the groom’s family.

When all that ended, the 5 of us, plus another 2 girls decided to hit the island to search for the elusive Asam Laksa stall. Didn’t find it, but what we found was this other shop which had awesome “Char Kuey Teow” & “Popiah”. No, it’s not Sisters on McAllister road, but on Jalan Penang. Name of the shop was Kok something, gotta ask the S.O.

Later, we crossed the road via the Pedestrian Bridge to get to the place which sold yummy cendol. It was then only we realized that it was the same shop which had the asam laksa! But no, we didn’t have that cos the cendol filled the empty space in my tummy. 🙁 But it was a satisfying meal. 😀

The wedding dinner was so happening. Food was better than what they served for breakfast (Thank God!) but I think the highlight of the night were the live performers. These two uncles were probably in their 60’s – 70’s, and performed a range of oldies. The happening factor of all this, they also performed some of the most updated tunes as well albeit singing it their own way.

Imagine this, a 70 year old uncle singing Pitbull’s ” I know you want me” and Jay Sean’s “Down”. How cool’s that?! They also sang “Who let the dogs out” by the Baha Men. XD They’re so up to date. 😀

I iz in Penang Part 1

Yes, as the title states, I’m in Penang for the weekend to attend a friend’s wedding.

Today is day 1 and boy am I tired. I had 4 guys in the car with me (inclusive of the S.O, who was the designated driver) and it took us about 5 hours to arrive at the mainland. Kinda dozed off a bit while in the car. Long journeys are tiring, and no matter how much I wanted to stay awake for the whole ride, I couldn’t. So I guess I took a 10 minute power nap. XD

We’re staying in the same hotel which the dinner would be at. So far, I think the place is a tad confusing. The room the S.O and I got has a queen sized bed and a shower. Room is alright I guess. Not the smallest I’ve been in. The shower’s kinda bad though. Even though they have a water heater, the shower head used was your standard non adjustable kind, so the water just sprays out all over, and that makes the water cold. 🙁

All we’ve been doing since we arrived was eating. We headed to the island after checking in, and then went on a food fest. Met up with a friend of a friend, whose parents were kind enough to show us where some of the nice food spots were. 😀 Thank you, Aunty & Uncle!

Did some mall hopping as well. From Queensbay Mall, Gurney Plaza then finally we went to Batu Feringghi to check out the beach. We couldn’t see anything though, cos it was dark. 🙁 So yea, tomoro we’re probably gonna attend the morning tea ceremony and later hang out for a bit. I need to get some work done. -.-” More updates tomoro.

I’ve got new kicks

Got my new Adidas kicks. 🙂 It’s florescent pink. :O

Got them from Al-Ikhsan @ the Curve and it was my first choice. 🙂 Pretty comfy, at least for now. Bought the starry laces a while back from Bonita.

Another random picture. Had lunch at Tony Romas yesterday. S.O had the ribs whilst I had their Roma Burger. I only had the meat and top bun. Couldn’t really finish the rest since with an order of main, you’d receive a free soft drink and complimentary soup. 😀 The soup was yummy.

Just got home from the Youreka! Finale Party by Yahoo.

Omg! I need to rant for a while. Initially, the party was suppose to be at CapSquare and we were not informed that the venue has been changed to KL Live. We (the S.O and I) only figured it out when we arrived at CapSquare, looking for signs indicating there’s a Yahoo event going on.

But noooooooo, no signs, nada.

So, we asked the Information counter. The dude handed us a flyer and mentioned that the event had been moved. I asked him where on earth KL Live was and he mentioned that it was near the Bukit Bintang MRT station. Oh boy, he was wrong. Luckily I called a friend to “google” the place for me. The nearest MRT was not Bukit Bintang, but Raja Chulan. Annnnddd… it was on Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Was feeling a bit tulan cos before that, we were stuck in a jam since 6pm and only arrived at CapSquare at 8pm. Paid RM 2 for parking even though we were only there for 16 minutes trying to locate the event. Then spent another 15 minutes circling the area, missing the 1st parking entrance and needing to make another round. Discovered that the parking fee of the place was an insane RM 9 (from 6pm – 6am). Yahoo could have saved us from this agonizing run-about if they’d at least sent an update on the change in venue. 🙁

Buuuutttt…. the S.O and I got some freebies and had no luck with the purple tag. Really, does it even exist? Has anyone actually picked out a purple tag? So disappointed.

We stayed for Bunkface’s performance since they were the opening act. I think they’ve found themselves a new fan. 😀 Saw Justin Yap (designer) at the event as well. Didn’t say hi cos I was shy. -.-” Plus I don’t think he remembers me. Left after that cos we were hungry. Had TGIF for dinner and the service was a little bit slow. 🙁 I tried their sizzling chicken and cheese and thought it was an interesting meal. S.O had the fish & chips.

No pictures from me cos I wasn’t in the mood to whip out the camera. The S.O took some pictures of the event though. Click here for pictures.

Working meat

The S.O and I went out to Meatworks last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It’s somewhere in Solaris and it was my first time there. I like the whole ambiance of the place – very white, minimalist I would say. Their menu is mostly beef, but they do have lamb, chicken, duck and fish.

Hawk (the birthday boy) and the S.O had the beef. I think it was Ribeye and Sirloin. I had their Portabello Burger where as our other friend, ToOt had the duck since she wasn’t a fan of beef. We also ordered some bread, which was HEAVENLY! I thought it would be rock hard, but instead, it was so incredibly warm and fluffy; like marshmallow. Good bread indeed. It comes with tomato puree and cheese cubes.

The S.O and I also had their French Onion Soup where as Hawk tried their Wild Mushroom Soup. The French onion soup was yummy, though my only complain was that it wasn’t pipping hot when I got it. More like lukewarm. 🙁 So I had to get them to reheat it for me. After having the onion soup, the Mushroom one tasted bland to me. 🙁

I ordered my Portabello Burger medium rare, which I think was a mistake. It was still pretty rare when I cut through the meat, but in the end, I didn’t really finish it. I probably had to much soup. There was only a small piece of Portabello mushroom on the burger. But I did ask for additional burger toppings for RM 3 each. I had a fried egg and some beef bacon strips. The burger itself was priced at RM 24.

ToOt’s grilled duck was apparently too tough. It got even harder after it got cold. She was dissapointed. We shared a chocolate mousse for dessert. If you asked me, I probably won’t go back, but then again I’m not exactly an expert on meat. I’ve actually tried a cheaper and yummier option, so yea. I would however, go back for their bread and the environment.

Rub a dub sub

Woke up early today and had to get ready for class.

Contemplated on the Subway breakfast or Roti Canai. Subway was too tempting. =.=”

I had their cheese and egg sub and probably it was a bad idea to have thousand island sauce with egg. I thought the egg would’ve been egg mayo, but it wasn’t. 🙁 Oh well, at least my curiosity was answered.

Anyway, here’s a picture of the work I’ve been doing over the weekend about a week ago.

The ink I bought for this thing really smelled bad. >.< It was a mix between dirt and poop. Now I know why it was only RM 2 a bottle at Giant. Never again will I succumb to buying that, though I still have a bottle left. (bought 3 in total cos of this assignment)

Meh, tons of work. My mind is drifting away. Am looking forward to my break, but I will need to jump through several hoops before I actually get there. 🙁 Planning for prom is underway, but I don’t really wanna do it. I feel it’s a little too rushed on my part. Going partially insane and probably senile soon.

Stressed out

I think I have a problem.

When I get stressed out, I tend to munch. But only when I’m REALLY stressed out.

I bought 3 cookies from Subway today. Subway’s healthy, right? I kinda like their oatmeal & raisin cookie as well as their chocolate chip one. Coconut is meh. XP Gave the chocolate one to the S.O when he picked me up from college. Munched on my oatmeal cookie until I had the sudden urge to eat maggie mee.

WTF?! Of all things I felt like eating. =.=”

Then when I got home, I restrained myself from busting open a packet. But then I wanted to eat okonomiyaki. I need a better way to vent the stress. I probably should take up running on the treadmill again. Ugh~

I want some meat too! Ah, what I wouldn’t do for a chicken nugget or a double cheese burger right this instant.

Hash browns!

Need to stop thinking about food! Can’t seem to form coherent sentences anymore. Need to eat a little more healthy.

Okay, I’ll stop here. =.=
